Gorgeous Gadwall

Now I'm pretty sure that Gadwall are a pretty underrated duck, and although the RSPB breeding numbers (790-800 pairs) seem quite low, we seem to have an abundance at Rooksbury Mill with 7 or 8 Pairs on the smaller Barlows lake. So I thought I'd sit quietly on the waters edge one lunch hour this week and snap off a few shots. I think the Drake is quite majestic even though not graced with the more attractive pearlescent coloured feathers that other male British Ducks species seem to have.
